Experian is a global leader in consumer and business credit reporting and marketing services and a constituent of the United Kingdom's FTSE 100 index. It is a big corporate specialized in data. Their credit report have 6 million users and Experian is the UK’s most trusted credit score.
I worked at Experian as full time as digital designer and user experience designer; In my years there, contributed to many projects specially on CreditExpert and CreditMatcher the main financial services products in the UK.
Credit expert is the most trusted credit report in the UK, the product have helped over 10 million people. Some people have improved their Experian Credit Scores, others have found great credit deals or managed to get a mortgage for their first home.
I worked mostly for credit expert and it’s features in the UX team that grew from 3 to 5 people redesigning and improving the user experience of the product.
I started working for CreditExpert helping to finish the redesign work. An agency provided part of the wireframes and helped to create the UI kit and high-resolution mock-ups and prototypes. We also had to create and update wireframes.
After the redesign, we started a product improvement project collecting knowledge and enhancing UX, IA and functionalities.
There were many exiting challenges since day one at Experian. They have a huge numbe of users and I helped to redesign CreditExpert, designed CreditMatcher(a comparison site), I worked with innovative functionalities as “pre-approval” and “chances to be accepted” for credit cards and mortgages. I worked with B2B and B2C with banks and financial institutions.
We would do backlog refinement for the projects, when working on something we would have meetings to understand and set business goals and then research with the time and tools available to that application, design-test (iterations) and implementation.
Experian has great UX and marketing tools available to investigate and observe users. We the UX team practiced user centre design (UCD) and we would research and test everything before implementing. We also had budget to hire research labs, and recruit test users for qualitative and quantitative studies busting the quality of the research. The call centre is very helpful logging and reporting issues and complains from the users.
We had access to all sort of data and user behaviour analysis tools and support from data analysts if required. We researched many user requests and complains discovering functionalities and improving user experience.
I also worked with the Dev team in agile to deliver UX/UI work.
I created wireframes, low-res and high-res prototypes, UI and visual assets to demonstrate and test the new functionalities or designs.
I designed UX, UI and other visual design assets for Experian UK, CreditExpert, CreditMatcher, B2B & B2C partners and identity theft products.
I also helped the innovation team to design and test new products exploring minimum viable products (MVP).
I designed html email campaigns, online banners, and splash pages.
I was constantly delivering assets in different formats to different people and teams, I created UX, UI, visual, and UxD assets for my UX team, product specific teams, and marketing.
The teams were well organised with the processes set and I would adapt and delivery accordingly.
I also helped the innovation team to design and test new products MVT.
During my time at Experian the company constantly grew. We had great results on all products. We improved the quality of the credit report and the user satisfaction rates increased in all products, we improved the product and the user experience.
CreditMatcher is part of CreditExpert. It matches users to credit deals from leading lenders without affecting the credit report and was the first to show your chances of being approved and pre-approved for mortgages.
We had to upgrade the design and review the UI for credit cards, loans, and mortgages.
The mortgages comparison tool now had the “chances to be approved” an unique functionality and we had to design the mortgage application process containing a large form with many questions.
It was a great experience to work with comparison sites especially with finance products. There are many regulations and guidelines to follow. The UI must be clear and yet convey lots of information. The original UI was desktop only and need mobile views.
We created a delivery plan with product owner and manager, and I lead the UI and interaction redesign and would contribute to the product research for mortgages.
I researched competitors and design patterns to suggest design alterations to fit the new features complying with legal requirements. We tested the new designs internally and with users and after performed A/B tests of the designs to compare results.
I participated and conducted research and user interviews and tests for mortgages.
I created wireframes, low-res and high-res prototypes, UI and visual assets to demonstrate and test the redesign new functionalities.
It was great to design using animated JavaScript charts and easy loading.
I also designed the forms and assets for testing the mortgage flows.
I was constantly delivering assets in different formats to different people and teams, I created UX, UI, visual, and UxD assets for my UX team, product specific teams, and marketing.

CreditMatcher performed very well, increased in revenue, and got faster after the redesign.
The user experience was enhanced and modernised with the responsive design and new features.
SafetyOwl helps parents to monitor the social media activity of their children. It alerts parents about inappropriate words, new contact requests, videos content, and other activities.
I helped the product innovation team to create a MVP App for SafetyOwl in a short time and with limited resources.
It was an internal exploratory initiative, we had limited time and no budget for UX.
The team performed research to evaluate the acceptability of the product.
It was a mobile app design, we had requirements and brainstorm meetings then I designed an agnostic responsive mobile first design. We I refined the designs and visuals with the team. The Dev team implemented the social media integrations and we tested the MVT with real users.
It was a brand-new product and I worked heavily with project owner and managers to convey all the ideas and test results they had. They were very clear and knew exactly what they wanted, making it easy to create initial designs. Additionally, I studied some design patterns and social media applications.
I created wireframes, low-res and high-res prototypes, UI and visual assets for the MVT.
We had several design iterations and reviews to refine the product.
I created designs for B2B and other Experian products.
